I am so glad that you have made this point! Surely some formula manufacturing company!! I am a nurse practitioner in women's health and any peer-judged scientific literature I have ever read certainly supports breast feeding as best for human babies! Someone should be making the point that theories cannot be PROVED, only STRONGLY SUPPORTED! Human babies are also shown not allergic to their own mother's milk (unless she is drinking copious amounts of cow's milk herself), and maternal milk has been shown to protect premature babies from necrotizing enterocolitis, an infection that is the frequent cause of their death. In many less-developed countries, breastfeeding protects babies from the contaminated water with which the formula might be mixed.
The point might also be made: why would Mother Nature have given women breasts and the ability to produce breast milk?
While I agree that each woman needs to make her own choice, if she chooses to have a child why not also commit to that job and do it completely? After all, taking care of our children should be considered Job # 1. We must own that responsibility. Certainly if it is too difficult to return to work AND breastfeed, adjustments can be made!— WHCNP65
